KAMPALA- Proline coach Shafiq Bisaso is literally the most sought after coach in the annual Masaza tourney. A demigod if you like for his four trophies with Singo and Gomba. His trophy cabinet is however is yet to rake in any club silverware from his stints at Nakivubo Boys, Baza Holdings, Fire Masters, KJT Rwenshama, Masavu, Villa, Soana, Express and Proline.

“Having achieved our primary target – getting a direct ticket to the topflight league after topping the Rwenzori Group – now I’m focusing at helping Proline win the Fufa Big League trophy before we embark on the Uganda Cup final,” he told Daily Monitor yesterday. He faces Elgon Group winners Wakiso Giants this Saturday at Lugogo in the highly billed battle of ‘skill vs. grit’.

Wakiso Giants coach Ibrahim Kirya is known for his steely approach given moreproficiency with experienced players – and Bisaso says they have their work cut out.

“We set out to win 20 matches and we still have enough in our tank to fight with Wakiso Giants for our first trophy. Like me, Proline deserve a trophy for all they have done so far,” he added.

Kabonge, Mayanja factor
Kyetume coach Allan Kabonge is always boastful for having helped four clubs – Paidha, Onduparaka, arum roses and Masavu gaining Uganda Premier League promotion, and demands to be called the ‘Messiah’.

“I’m bringing my fifth club this season. We have camped in Katosi to see that we beat Dove and then finish up with either Kansai Plascon or UPDF,” he revealed yesterday. He believes his coaching tandem with Uganda Cranes and KCCA legend Jackson Mayanja will not only ruffles feathers in the playoffs but will also match the best upon promotion.

“We play a 3-5-2 formation with experienced players like Robert Ssentongo, Vincent Kayizzi and Patrick Ochan that gives us hope we are going to qualify,” he added.
