Is there anything  to be gained from working out in the sun ?

Not once, not twice have I been walking to some place during lunchtime hours, forcing myself to take each step because of the heat, that I find people jogging, and not just jogging, but high speed jogging.  Why would anyone jog when the sun is up high?
Schedule
Due to his tight morning schedule, Joseph Manyire  would spare some time during his lunch break to do his usual jogging workout. He later made it a routine to jog in the afternoon .
Manyire’s explanation for jogging in  the heat is pretty simple.

“Ever seen people working out in hoodies or sweat jackets in the gym? The result is the same as jogging in the heat. You sweat pretty fast,” he says.
The thing he cannot forget though, is his water bottle on any kind of jogging -even on a treadmill. Through timing himself, he knows when to start and stop, or have a break. The only focus is aiming at beating his own record for the previous day.
“When a person starts from 10kg weight lifting, he will keep adding to 15, 20, 30 and so on kilograms to keep improving himself. So is fitness, you do not let your body settle for the same workout,”  he says.
Prep for harsh conditions
According to Hellen Koyokoyo Buteme, a qualified strength and conditioning coach, working out in the heat depends on what one wants to achieve.
If it is a competition, they will need to work out to stay put in case of climate surprises. This is especially when the competition is in a different country. If it is hot there, the body will by then have adjusted to that kind of climate.
Staying hydrated
“Working out in the heat is okay as long as you keep hydrated. If not, you are at a high risk of getting dizzy in the middle of the workout since the body gets tired fast compared to morning work outs,” she says.It is dangerous to sweat alot in a short period of time if you are  not  well-hydrated .
For a healthy workout, apart from drinking water everytime you feel thirsty, one can take Oral Rehydration Solution to help in regulating sugars in the body. Also, the intensity at which you work out under heat should be lower than the intensity at which you work during cooler hours.
According to Solomon Kirinya, a fitness trainer,  people jog in the sun because they want to sweat quickly, the same reason they give for jogging in hoodies.
The wearing-something-heavy trend during a workout is common in snowy countries whereby the person working out is trying to bar falling snow from touching their skin since it can cause irregularities in energy dispersion in the body during a workout where heat is getting released from the body.
“You only need light cotton clothes to help absorb the sweat from your skin and also for easy penetration of heat from your body. When sweat covers the skin for long, it can lead to development of pimples and skin allergies,” Kirinya says.
Under heat, he adds, the body might not work at its best because it gets strained and might not produce a desirable result. This is because, when the climate is inducive, one gains more from the workout.
However, if you must do the workouts, water consumption is mandatory and making sure one knows their body limits. When your body tells you to stop, stop until you get used to it.
Apart from jogging, there are other exercises that can be done during the same hours. These can be done in the comfort of your home, or in a room at work. These include; Jumping jacks, high knees, side step squats, mountain climbers, bicycle crunches, among others.
