So, when did the two of you eventually become close?
Amos: While at the restaurant, we exchanged contacts and so I kept checking on her through phone calls since I cherished her.
It was hard for me to convince her because I remember she even abused me and as time went on, I think she discovered that I was indeed in love with her.
Annet: I did not like Amos but later I fell in love with him while we were dating because we used to travel to many interesting places.

How was the proposal?
Amos: We had travelled to a beach and while she was looking away, I went on one knee pulled out a sweet and popped the question, “Will you marry me?” and she accepted.
Annet: The proposal was romantic. My heart skipped a beat and I felt so loved because marriage is what every woman adores.

Annet: I was given an offer to select maids from Mummy’s Institute of Beauty since the director is a good friend of mine, I selected those who could match and trend on my wedding. My matron was Helen Naboowa, she is a friend, sister and I really love her because she has been there for me.

Did you involve a wedding planner?
Amos: No, we did not, only that we attended wedding expos to know the new trends. We also used experiences from other people’s weddings. We paid our service providers early.

Were you disappointed in any way on that day?

Did you go for premarital counselling?
Amos: We went to the Rev Herbert Matovu at All Saints Church of Uganda, Nyendo in Masaka. I learnt more about love, how to handle my wife, how to behave as husband and wife and also to pray to God whenever we get misunderstandings.

Annet: I learnt to be patient, God-fearing, to seek advice from elders and also trust my husband.

Did you think of going for a honeymoon as vital?

What is your advice to those planning to wed?
Amos: They should prepare finances for the wedding in time so they can stay away from huge debts.

Also plan weddings within your means because it does not make sense to please the rest and after that you start yawning for a penny.
