AUDIO: Court bans FDC activities

Kampala.
Court of Appeal has blocked opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) or any of the party’s agents against organising any procession or carrying on with the defiance campaign pending determination of a Constitutional case filed by Government.

The ban comes days to the May 12 presidential inauguration which FDC says is not valid. Dr Besigye on Tuesday said President Museveni’s fifth coming term in office is neither legal nor legitimate without an independent audit of the February 18 polls.
Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma who issued the order exparte (listening to only one side) said it shall remain in force four month a time in which the main application would be heard.

“An interim order doth issue against the 1st [FDC] and 2nd [Dr Kizza Besigye]respondents, their agents officials, supporters or any other person acting under their authority from engaging in demonstrations, processions, other public meetings, media campaigns or pronouncements including but not limited to the planned demonstration or procession scheduled for 5th of May 2016 or any other day in furtherance of the defiance campaigning pending hearing and determination of the main application for temporary injunction,” Justice Kavuma said.

Court also stopped all proceedings in a pending case between the Dr Besigye and the Attorney General at the High Court and another between Dr Besigye and the Inspector General of Police at Nabweru Court pending the hearing and determination of the main application for a temporary injunction.
