The Electoral Commission Chairperson Eng Badru Kigundu has spoken out on the proposed electoral reforms.
A number of recommendations were made from last week’s national consultation on free and fair elections including the restructuring of the electoral commission.
These proposals are expected to be presented to parliament this week for debate.
Kigundu says he will respect any decision made by parliament on the reforms even when it calls for him to step aside.
While the dialogue on free and fair elections continues to draw reactions, a cross section of MPs has described the conference as a wrong forum.
MPs Anifa Kawooya and Fred Ebile argue that the conference lost meaning as it targeted people from all walks of life who could not even articulate to issues at hand.
While the duo agrees with some of the recommendations, it argues that the UPDF representation in parliament should not be scraped because it helps bring the army closer to the people.
