EC verifies Museveni, Tumukunde signatures, Bobi, Mabirizi pending

As the dates for presidential nominations draw closer, the Electoral Commission Sunday said they had verified supporters of President Yoweri Museveni (NRM), Ms Nancy Linda Kalembe (Independent) and two other aspiring candidates.
The other two aspirants whose supporters were verified are Mr Fred Mwesigye and Mr Henry Tumukunde Kakurugu, both Independents.
However, supporters of Mr Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine (National Unity Platform) and 17 others are still under verification, according to EC.
“The verification of supporters of 18 others aspiring candidates who have submitted their lists is still ongoing,” the EC said in a statement.
The other 17 aspirants include; Mayambala Willy (Independent), Lugudde-Katwe Elizabeth (Independent), Mutono Mbulambago Robert (Independent), Simon Ebetu (Independent) and Joseph Mabirizi (Independent).
Others are Joseph Kiiza Kabuleta (Independent), Jothan Yamureebire (Independent) and Moses Makmot (Independent).
According to EC, supporters of Geoffrey Okoth (Independent), John Katumba (Independent), Brenda Katushemererwe (Independent) and Patrick Oboi Amuriat (Forum for Democratic Change) are still under verification.
Other candidates whose supporters are still under verification include Henry Sserunjogi (Independent) Fred Chemuko Wakuri (Revolutionary People’s Party), Phiona Mirembe (Independent) and Mugisha Muntu Gregg (Alliance for National Transformation).
The nomination of presidential candidates will be conducted on November 2 and 3,2020, at Kyambogo University Sports Grounds, Kampala.
