What you need to know:

President advises voters not to be swayed by Opposition.

President Museveni told Busia residents not to vote for the Opposition during the January 21, 2015’s LC5 by-elections, saying it is he who controls the money that they need to have social services.

“I have the money you need for some of the social services but if you make a mistake and vote for the Opposition, you would be blocking the channel because they cannot approach me,” Mr Museveni said.

The President made the remarks on Monday while speaking at a campaign rally at Mawero Primary School in Buteba Sub-county where he was drumming up support for the ruling NRM’s candidate in the race, Mr Stephen Oundo Wanyama.

Mr Wanyama is contesting for the seat with Mr Deo Njoki Hasubi from the Democratic Party (DP) who is being fielded under the umbrella of the Inter Party Coalition.

Mr Museveni told the crowd that besides the services provided by central government, he has another kit under the Presidential Initiative which he can use to support additional developments, but that it is important they vote for someone that he can work with if they are to benefit from it.

Meanwhile, the ruling party’s supporters have accused former Cabinet minister Gabriel Opio, and Busia South MP Julius Maganda, of polarising the party’s supporters.

The supporters made the accusation while addressing the NRM Secretary General, Ms Justine Lumumba, during a consultative meeting held in Nambweke village in Lunyo South.
