Kampala- Now that the festivities are done, it’s time to take the final bend of the Nile Special Premiership as action resumes tomorrow after a two-week Christmas slumber. Three points separating first and third is a statistic that portrays the kind of picture we witnessed in the first round.

Perhaps Mongers were the biggest winners in the first round having surprised many with 25 points which saw them finish the round in second position but it’s a guarantee that the second round is going to be much harder for them.

“We are going to do nothing different from what you saw in the first round. We are to handle one game at a time and wait for the results,” Mongers captain John Wandicho told Daily Monitor.

Mongers played five out of seven first round games at home, winning four at home and drawing one. They will have to exorcise their miserable away form beginning with their visit to Kyadondo to take on Buffaloes if they are stay in the title race.

While Mongers are enjoying their stay in wonderland, the big boys, Heathens and Kobs remain the most credible title contenders despite having not had the best of first rounds.

“I don’t think we played our best rugby in the first round until the last two games. The second round is going to be much better characterized by good rugby and composure,” said Kobs vice captain Brian Asaba.

Kobs and Heathens are all expected to pick up maximum points when they visit Impis and Mutoni Warriors respectively, two sides that lie at the foot of the table.

Having had the best start to the season, defeats to Buffaloes, Impis and Kobs saw Rhinos` title hopes dealt a big blow but with way results have been panning out this season, it would be criminal to count them out of the race.
