KAMPALA- At the start of this season Soana was renamed Tooro by owner Smart Obed before later on shifting the club’s home ground from Kavumba to Fort Portal.

That might turn out to be the most inspired decision he has made since the club was promoted to the top division at the end of the 2013 season.

This is after they earned a late 1-0 win over Express yesterday, their fifth consecutive win that stretched their unbeaten run to nine games since switching to Buhinga Stadium in November.

Simon Sserunkuma scored from the penalty spot three minutes from time after the enterprising Allan Kayiwa was fouled by Arthur Kiggundu.
The win moved them four places into sixth position leapfrogging Express, who are now eighth as the league second round commenced with two games.

The result will have deflated an Express side that came into the game riding on the positivity of signing five new players including 2008 MVP and top scorer Brian Umony. The striker made his club debut at the start of the second half replacing another debutant Ivan Ocholit albeit to no avail.

At Lugogo, there was no shortage of goals as Ibrahim Dada Juma helped himself to the season’s second hat-trick in Nyamityobora’s 4-1 rout of Police. While the result was not enough to take them out of the relegation zone, the Asaph Mwebaze coached side will take plenty of positives from the performance against a midtable Police side.

“It is a big result because if we win our next game there is a possibility of moving out of the relegation places,” said Mwebaze. After a slow start in which they should have conceded had Juma Balinya been more precise after rounding goalkeeper Dennis Otim, Nyamityobora recovered with Dada proving particularly unplayable.

He was lucky to be awarded the first goal with his effort hitting the post and bouncing in off goalkeeper Davis Mutebi on 22 minutes.

There was nothing lucky about the other two though as he turned Ibrahim Kibumba inside out before scoring with a low shot while he managed to lift the ball over Mutebi for the fourth goal on 89 minutes .

Former Hope Doves midfielder Damien Nakalema scored the other goal for Nyamityobora pouncing after Mutebi parried Dada’s cross back into play. The goal which came four minutes after the first showed why Police have now conceded 30 goals, the most for any side this season exposing Mutebi and the carelessness of his defenders in recovering possession. “It is ashaming the way we lost possession and missed chances. The players’ mentality was poor, we were just reckless,” Police coach Abdallah Mubiru stated.
Arafat Galilwango scored Police’s consolation with a header off a corner kick five minutes from time.

“We hope to acquire some personnel - some defenders. Most mistakes are individual. We will acquire a goalkeeper too,” Mubiru added.
