Which is better between the Nissan Tiida 2.0 litre and a Toyota Mark X?

Hello Paul, I want to buy a car and I am trying to choose between a Nissan Tiida 2.0 litre and a Toyota Mark X 2.5 litre. Tell me how they compare in performance, fuel and maintenance terms. Charles.

Hello Charles, the Nissan Tiida and Toyota Mark X are not fair comparisons because they are in different car segments.

The Nissan Tiida is in the subcompact or compact sedan segments which lie between the smaller Nissans Micra or March and the bigger Blue bird Sylphy or Sentra.

It comes as a hatch or small 4 door sedan. Toyota Mark X would compare well with the Nissan Altima or perhaps the Sentra which are midsize sedans with 2.5 litre engines.

The smaller Nissan Tiida will give you better fuel economy because of its smaller engine and lighter body. However, the Mark X will give you better performance (engine power), better high speed handling and a more spacious comfortable ride.

The smaller Nissan should be easier to maintain while the bigger Mark X attracts a higher price tag for its major repair parts.

Regular maintenance for the bigger Mark X engine also attracts a slightly higher price tag. Mark X has a higher purchase price but maintains a better resale value. So you can make a decision depending on how tight your purse strings are.
