Do you watch Tusker Project Fame? If not, try and make an effort because there is a new talented Ugandan singer ready to keep the country’s flag high.

He is called Davis Hillary Ntare and last Sunday during the show in Nairobi, he brought the house down with a re-do of the late Lucky Dube’s (RIP) hit Together as One. He was impressive. His vocal range, stage composure and movement were good enough to earn him applause from the audience.

He was one of the few bright lights in the Tusker Project Fame season four. However he was one of the few bright lights in the Tusker Project Fame that’s in its fourth season. Most were dire. Not only were they pathetic in their singing, some like Gilbert Gabiro from Rwanda could have had famous Judge Simon Cowell aghast with their attempt at singing. He was horrendously off-key! He was terribly off-key!

Last Sunday was the reggae night with contestants required to perform a reggae song. For some like the Kenyan Steven Nyabwa, reggae music wasn’t their forte. Nyabwa is normally a strong performer at the show, but last Sunday he struggled to get it right.
By the end of the show, all the Kenyans, Amilene Mwenesi, Nyabwa and Juvenalis Ochieng were on probation. Gabiro too was added on that probation list. As for the Ugandans Davis and Racheal, they survived for another day. Davis for now is the show’s highlight.
