Fashion at Mavuno Yetu

Miss Tanzania, Lillian Deus, on the catwalk clad in Jamil Walji’s and Patrick Muhire’s items.

What you need to know:

Mavuno Yetu was a full package. The mouthwatering meals, and non-stop entertainment aside, the fashion was the epic moment of the night, writes Gloria Haguma.

For anyone that is keen on the fashion evolution in Kampala, you know that the kitenge has made a tremendous come back.

The creative director at the Arapapa Fashion house, Santa Anzo, who is also the host of the annual event, debuted her Kintegelicious collection, alongside invited guest designers.

Jamil Walji from Nairobi, and Patrick Muhire from Rwanda. All pieces were rich in colour, joyful and featured great cuts.

Like Walji’s collection, the Arapapa collection had playful prints and patterns, another current trend on the fashion scene. There is still a lot that can be done with Kitenge. It is definitely still going to be on the fashion scene next year.
