As we all know, Eid-Al-adhuha celebration is on next Monday, looking for the perfect hijab to wear on the day is not very hard, but finding one that’s trendy but still halaal (lawful) is hard.

Muslim wear has gotten a huge boost during the past few weeks thanks to the controversial ‘Burkini ban’ in France.

Muslim women all over the world are wearing their hijabs, abbayas and burkas with pride in protest. To get us in the know of the latest trends in Musilm wear we talked to Leila Issa of Hyjab World in Kampala.

According to Leila, the best hijab to wear on Eid should be unique and a huge stand out from what you usually wear on an ordinary day.

“Eid is such an important day to us Muslims, wearing something special and different earns you blessings from Allah,” says Issa.

The most important factor here though, is that it has to be modest and lawful to wear.

Trendy ways to wear your Hijab

Leila Issa of Hyjab World tips on the current trends of wearing your Hijab;
1. Tribal/Floral prints
Prints are huge this season. Tribal and florals stand out and make anyone look stylish, and unusual without much effort.

2. Toned down colours
According to Leila, bright colours that have dominated Muslim wear for the past so many months are now officially out of style. She recommends colours such as mustard, navy blue, nude and pastels as the go to colours when shopping for new hijab.
3. Loose and comfortable
Hijab is meant to be loose fitting, but women have been wearing tight dress sharias a lot. Dress sharia is a maxi dress with long sleeves worn usually by younger women instead of the ordinary abbaya.

Most dress sharias on the market are really tight-fitting, which kills the point of actually wearing hijab. Loose-fitting hijabs are really trendy now, and considering the hot weather, you don’t want to walk around in a tight dress.

4. Head to toe single colour styling is out
According to Leila, this trend of wearing one single colour and fabric for the veil and dress is out. “Right now it’s about mixing and matching. If you have on a dark coloured dress on, pair it with a bright coloured or printed veil,” she says. Also get a bit adventurous and pair two different fabrics together.

5. Accessorising
Accessorising is very important for Eid. “Since Eid falls only twice a year, you should try to go a bit all out with your style choices, don’t be afraid to accessorise.” Fashion’s rule of thumb for balancing your accessories comes into play here.
“Most hijabs have a bit of glitter and detail, so, keep the accessories to a minimum,” Issa explains.

6. Moderate heeled shoes
When choosing shoes to wear, go for moderate heeled shoes.
“Wear heels that are comfortable, Eid is usually a busy day and so many people at the mosque, you should wear shoes that you can walk around in for hours without fretting,” says Issa.
