Baking soda as tooth whitener

Some people use baking soda as teeth whitener but the practice has advantages as well as disadvantages.

Bicarbonate of soda or baking soda is not only for adding to the dough. It can also be used as teeth whitening.
Here are some tips on how to brush your teeth with bicarbonate of soda in several ways. But before you try it out, you may want to consult your dentist first in case of allergy or some other issues.

There are a lot of ways to use baking soda as teeth whitener. You can use bicarbonate of soda for brushing your teeth as follows;

Make your toothbrush wet with water and dip the bristle into pure baking soda and then, brush your teeth for two minutes, and rinse it.
If you get burning or tingling sensations rinse your mouth immediately.

Mix baking soda, a pinch of salt, and few drops of white vinegar in water; then dip the toothbrush and use it to brush for two minutes. After that, brush your teeth with regular toothpaste.

Or you can just combine baking soda with your regular toothpaste.
The other alternative is to mix baking soda with strawberries. Mash a fresh strawberry and add with baking soda to form a paste.

Why use bicarbonate of soda?
It makes your teeth whiter and removes plaque.
However, you should remember to brush with baking soda only once per week or it will damage to your teeth’s enamel instead.
Baking soda helps to make your mouth fresher. Using baking soda is also cheaper than professional whitening.
Besides the advantage, there can be disadvantages of using bicarbonate of soda.

Baking soda weakens the enamel, making teeth more sensitive and can lead to cavities.
Baking soda can’t kill bacteria.
Another important thing is that you can’t swallow baking soda; it is not good for your health.

Using baking soda sometimes is safe, but using regular toothpaste is better because regular toothpaste has fluoride to strengthen the enamel.
