A multi-purpose flower garden

Some people do not want to miss out on celebrating any of their family members’ birthday parties. But how do you ensure you get to celebrate everyone’s birthday, in addition to Christmas or Eid day, without running an overdraft on your decorating budget?
Henry Mukiibi, a florist with Rusadia Florists and Decorations on Plot 1 Bombo Road tells us how:
There are flowers you can plant at home, like roses, lilies, chrysanthemums and gardenia to serve this purpose. Aim for colours such as yellow, red, pink and white flowers.
To decorate for birthday parties, it will depend on whether it is for a girl or a boy. If it is for a girl, pink flowers will do, including red and orange. If it is for a boy, you can use yellow and purple flowers.
Table bouquet
The arrangements will depend on what you want to come up with. If you want to create a table bouquet, you need to have an oasis. Soak it in water for about two to three minutes. T
Then take it out and start arranging your flowers in it, according to what you may like. You do not need to use containers for some arrangements and this is one of them.
Wrap it in cellophane
After putting your arrangement together, wrap it in cellophane (a transparent paper wrapper), then tie a ribbon around it, depending on the colours you have used.
You can cut the flowers from your garden to make your arrangements.
Apart from table bouquets, you can come up with gift bouquets, for example, for the person celebrating their birthday. You could give a girl a bouquet of pink roses or one that contains yellow and purple roses with blue ribbons around it for a boy.
To arrange a gift bouquet, cut the roses from your garden, cut the thorns off and bind the flowers together. Wrap them in cellophane and tie a ribbon around them.
Put them in a vase
If you have flower vases at home, you can also arrange the flowers in a vase. Cut flowers from your garden, pour little water in the vase and place the flowers there. It creates a nice display.
