Who is eligible to get a work identity card?

I have worked at an organisation for more than six months with no identity card (ID) yet my kind of job requires one to have an ID while in the field. Who is eligible to get a work ID. Jerry

Dear Jerry,
It is unfortunate that you have been working with your organisation for six months and yet you haven’t been issued with an identification card to prove that you are an employee and not an imposter. You have however not indicated whether you even have ever been issued with an appointment letter.
You also didn’t indicate whether you are offering services as an employee or as an independent contractor. This would be clearly defined in the kind of contract you have signed with the company. The rights and responsibilities of independent contractors differ from those of employees.
However if you neither have an ID nor any letter of appointment/contract, then that organisation is perpetuating an illegality. Some companies try to avoid the responsibility that comes with employing people as provided for in the law.
What these employers forget is that in law, a psychological employment contract is permissible as long an employee can prove that he was verbally instructed to carry out unwritten but verbally specified duties at the company premises in exchange for a regular periodic payment.
My advice is that if you requested for an ID or employment contract and it was denied, creatively acquire proof of your activities on the company premises. This kind of evidence will come in handy one day when you are seeking advice of the Labour Officer in your area to demand for your rights mentioned above.
