Makerere opens for private sponsorship application

Makerere University has started receiving applications for undergraduate programmes under the private sponsorship scheme for the 2017/2018 Academic Year.

The exercise which commenced yesterday (Monday) will close on June 8th.

According to the University Vice Chancellor Prof John Ddumba Ssentamu, the process will strictly be conducted online, with the exception of diploma applicants who are required to apply manually.

Non Ugandan applicants are also required to submit their applications manually at the institution’s senate building

Requirements for application

Each applicant should possess one of the following;

  • Uganda Certificate of Education with at least (five passes), or its equivalent and at least two principal passes at Advanced Level obtained at the same sitting. For day programmes, only candidates who sat "A" Level in 2016, 2015 and 2014 are eligible to apply. For Evening, Afternoon, and External programmes, a candidate is not restricted on the year of sitting "A" Level
  • At least a Second Class or Credit (or equivalent classification) Diploma from a recognised institution, relevant to the programmes applied for.
  • Graduates intending to apply are required to present certified copies of academic transcripts (not photocopies of certified copies) from the awarding institutions.
