5 police officers under investigations over alleged murder

  • The Bukedi regional police commander, Mr Julius Gobolo said that two of his officers [police] had been arrested together with a witch doctor over allegations of having participated in the killing of Loloto Timu on April 27.

  • He however, declined to reveal the identity of the police officers. 

BUDAKA.

Five Police officers attached to Lyama police post in Budaka District are under investigations in relation to the killing of a 38-year old man from Karamoja. 

Some of the police officers had been arrested, detained in Tororo before being released on police bond as investigations continue.

This brings the total number of suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Timu Loloto, a resident of Losam parish, Lomuchurus village, Loregea sub-county in Nakapiripirit district, to 12. They are all detained at Budaka central police station. 

The Bukedi regional police commander, Mr Julius Gobolo said that two of his officers [police] had been arrested together with a witch doctor over allegations of having participated in the killing of Loloto Timu on April 27. He however, declined to reveal the identity of the police officers. 

Daily Monitor however, managed to get the names of the officers including Patrick Makombe- the officer in-charge Lyama police post, Wilberforce Kyata, Cpl Moses Amau, Jackson Matebo and Catherine Wadidi.

The Nakapiripirit District Woman MP, Ms Esther Anyakun told Daily Monitor that on April 26,  the deceased [Loloto Timu] had travelled with his wife Rofina Lomongin [45] to Budaka district to seek medication from a one George Mulyamboga, a witch doctor in Nakisenye village, Lyama sub-county in Budaka. 

However the witch doctor turned against his patient.

According to the deceased's his wife, three unidentified people hatched a plan to kill her husband in order take his money (Shs250,000).

The wife then informed his husband about the planned mission to kill him prompting them to walk to a nearby Lyama police post but unfortunately the three men prevented the man from leaving. 

The wife to Loloto immediately rushed to the police post and informed them that her husband was being killed.

It's alleged that the police officers on duty asked for Shs10,000 for fuel and she obliged. 

The woman found two police officers at the police post and had to come with one of them on a motorcycle to rescue his husband.

The officer rescued the man but he returned to the station to pick his colleague. At this time, chaos was building up and the man was killed under unclear circumstances.

During the commotion, the wife to the deceased was also gang raped. Despite the police post being nearby, nobody came to her rescue.

Instead, flashes of light continued to emerge from the police post.
