Kitgum councillors want airfield named after President Museveni

Kitgum District LCV Councillor's have resolved to name airfield after President Museveni.

The councillors have resolved to re-name John F. Kennedy airfield to His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni International Airport in what they described as an appreciation for his great work.

The airfield which was established in 1971, was named by an American tourist after the former US President. It is located about 78KM north –east of Kitgum town.

The motion was tabled by Mr Quirino Olum, Orom Sub-County councillor.

Although he is a staunch member of Democratic Party (DP), Mr Olum explained that his move to rename the airfield after President Museveni was non-political.

“President Museveni restored peace and stability and he should be rewarded for the good work done,” he said.
