Bus driver dies in Kisoro road accident

  • The Kisoro District LCV Chairman Mr Abel Bizimana said that he received information that the bus had about 10 people aboard before it lost control and overturned several times.

A man died on spot when the bus he was driving lost control and overturned on Monday at Kibaya Cell (about 1Km from Kisoro town) in Southern division, Kisoro municipality in Kisoro District.

Police identified the deceased as Faruzi Kamurumba, 40 and resident of Rukungiri District who was driving the bus Re. No. UBA 455C owned by Baby Coaches Company which was travelling from Kisoro town to Kampala.
Police spokesman for Kigezi sub-region, Mr Elly Maate named the injured as Ms Patricia Mirembe, 21, Ms Naava Rwina, 20, Ms Abutrica Shakira, 20, Gerald Kennedy, 23, Mr Duncan Asingwire, 24 who were taken to Kisoro hospital and by mid-day they were already out of danger.

Mr Maate said police were investigating the actual cause of the accident. He also appealed to the drivers to always be careful and observe the road signs and the traffic regulations so as to avoid road accidents.
