20 arrested in Jinja swoop

JINJA. The police in Kakira, Jinja District, are holding 20 people suspected to be a gang of that has been terrorizing residents in the area.
The suspects are said to be part of a group that breaks into people’s houses at night, steal domestic animals and grab bags from pedestrians.
The Kiira East Police Commander, Mr Brayan Ampaire, says the suspects will be taken to court after investigations to answer to a number of charges, including being idle and disorderly.

Namayingo crocodile eats fisherman

NAMAYINGO. A fisherman, said to be in his20s, has reportedly been eaten up by a crocodile in Namayingo district.
The man, who is yet to be identified, was snatched from Lwanda landing site in Mutumba sub-county where he had gone fishing.
Police say only part of the man’s hand was found floating on water.
The Busoga East police spokesperson James Mubi says the hunt for the crocodile has commenced.

Man arrested over Incest after 4 months

MAYUGE. Police in Mayuge have finally arrested a man who has been on the run since May over accusations that he defiled his daughter.

Mayuge DPC Denis Odoki says the suspect, a resident of Buyego village in Kigandalo sub-county, will be charged with defilement and incest.

Police say the suspect sneaked into the 15-year-old girl’s room in the dead of the night when his wife was away.

The police say the suspect threatened to kill the daughter if she ever revealed anything to anyone.
