Car thief, murderer gets 50 years in jail

Kampala. The High Court in Kampala yesterday sentenced a notorious car thief to 50-years in jail for murder and aggravated robbery.
Musa Kalule alias Sam Yenga Amanga Blaise, was found guilty of murdering John Bosco Zziwa, a special hire driver, in 2013 and robbing him of his car which he later sold in DR Congo.

Justice Moses Kazibwe held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that Kalule murdered and robbed the deceased.
“…The convict is hereby sentenced to 50 years in jail, this punishment is to act as a deterrence to would-be offenders. The testimonies from the prosecution witnesses are proof that the convict murdered his victim with malice aforethought,” Justice Kazibwe ruled.

During mitigation to cause a tough sentence for the convict, the state prosecutor, Mr Jonathan Muwaganya, told court that Kalule is a serial offender who has a previous criminal record of escaping from lawful custody twice and pleaded guilty to other car theft charges.
According to court records, by the time the convict committed the alleged murder and robbery in 2013, he had escaped from prison where he was serving a sentence for previous crimes of stealing cars.
