Court grants pro-Bobi Wine protesters bail

Kagadi. The Kagadi Grade One Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday granted bail to three leaders who were arrested over allegations of staging an illegal protest against the arrested of the Kyandondo East MP Mr Robert Kyagulanyi.
Mr Livingstone Akugizibwe, the Ndaiga Sub-county district councillor, Mr Junior Katusabe, the Kamina parish chief and Mr Horreb Turyamwesimira, a businessman and youth activist appeared before Magistrate Simon Toroko on charges of inciting violence and holding unlawful assembly.
Through their lawyer, Mr Isaac Mwebaze, the trio applied for bail. They argued that bail is their constitutional right, they have fixed places of abode and they are respectable people in society, who will comply with bail conditions set by court.
Earlier, the state prosecutor had asked court to reject their bail application on grounds that their case is of public interest and the file had been sanctioned by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
However, Mr Toloko released gave each of the suspects a Shs500,000 non-cash bail and Shs1m for each of their sureties.
