The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Secretary General, Ms Justine Lumumba, has urged the voters in Butebo District against supporting candidates running on independent tickets after losing in party primaries.

Butebo, scheduled to go to the polls on June 28 to elect the LCV chairperson, was carved out of Pallisa District and started operating in June 2017.

There are two candidates eyeing the seat namely; Mr Sam Keddi (NRM) and Mr James Okurut (Independent).

But Ms Lumumba, while meeting NRM party leaders at St Paul Secondary school on Saturday said it is wrong and unacceptable for party supporters to rally behind any candidate who runs as an independent after losing in party elections.
“Those who go against the party rules and regulations should not be voted by our party supporters,” she said.
