Police in Kampala has arrested two Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leaders just hours after Nakawa Magistrate’s Court adjourned former party presidential candidate Kizza Besigye’s case to June 15 for mention.
FDC Secretary for Mobilisation, Ms Ingrid Turinawe and Makerere University Woman Councillor Doreen Nyanjura were on Wednesday arrested in Nakawa as they reportedly attempted to walk to Namugongo Martyrs Shrine and bundled in a police van before being driven away to unknown destination.

The two were from Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court where Besigye who is incarcerated for treason in Luzira prison was expected to re-appear for the second time in two weeks ever since he was charged afresh.
However, Besigye was never brought to court with the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) arguing that his appearance in Nakawa Court poses a security threat.
