Move forward. The archbishop said it is time the people of Teso forgave those who committed atrocities against them and move on.

Soroti. Church of Uganda Archbishop Stanley Ntagali has asked the people of Teso sub-region to forgive those who committed wrongs against them both during the insurgency and cattle rustling times.
Archbishop Ntagali told the congregation at St Peter’s Cathedral in Soroti that he knows the pain the people of Teso suffered when they lost innocent lives, cattle and other properties in the war, but said it was time to forgive and move on.
“I knew Teso for its cattle. You lost your innocent people. God is gracious that you are survivors. He has given you another chance to rebuild the sub region,” the archbishop said while preaching on the last day of his two-week tour of the sub-region on Sunday.
The archbishop also presided over the ground-breaking function for the construction of the Church House at St Peter’s Cathedral.
Archbishop Ntagali praised the people of Teso for their receptiveness, saying while at Bishop Tucker Theological College, Mukono he was mentored by colleagues from Teso.
He also advised his flock to reconnect with their God saying people are turning to witchdoctors for help and that lack of connectivity with the Lord has bred a lot of violence among Christians.
“Child sacrifice is happening because people are looking for money,” he lamented. The archbishop appealed to politicians to reconnect with the Lord saying that is when their leadership will be blessed.

Teso war victims to be reburied
In January, local leaders in Teso announced that the remains of 2,745 people killed during the insurgencies in Teso sub-region will be exhumed to be accorded decent burial. The leader of Teso War Victims Association, Mr Julius Ochen, said Shs30m had been earmarked for the reburial exercise. He said most bodies of the victims had been dumped in mass graves.
