Former Makindye West MP Yusuf Nsambu dies

Former Member of Parliament for Makindye West Yusuf Nsubuga Nsambu has died.

According to Mr Chris Obore, the communications director parliament, Nsambu died on Wednesday morning at Platinum Hospital in Wandegeya, Kampala.

According to relatives, Nsambu had been battling leukemia and heart complications fro some time before he was admitted.

Mr Nsambu represented the constituency in the 6th and 7th Parliament. Nsambu who has been ill for some time was an ardent proponent of federal system of governance and this flagged his popularity in the constituency which he represented in the Constituency Assembly that wrote the 1995 Constitution.
After being defeated by Hussein Kyanjo in 2006, Nsambu was appointed by Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi as Buganda Kingdom Deputy Katikiro. He also doubled as Kingdom culture, and tombs Minister.

As a lawyer, Nsambu was passionate about land matters.
In his condolence message, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago posted on his facebook page saying: “May the soul of Owek. Hon. Yusuf Nsubuga Nsambu Rest in Eternal Peace. I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family members, relatives and all Ugandans. Your legacy will endure for ages.”

He will be laid to rest at Mabanda, Butambala District today (Wednesday).
