“A driver speeding in a Vitz from Luweero to Kampala overtook a trailer in Wobulenzi Township and on realising that there was another car coming from the opposite side, he tried to brake, but the car failed and it was knocked by a truck before swerving off the road leading to the death of its occupants,” he said.
Five people died on spot while the sixth person who was driving the salon car died shortly after arrival at Luweero Health Centre IV.
He identified four of the deceased as Florence Nankumbi, 28, Patience Najuma, 28, Richard Lule, 30, and Isaac Mbogo, 32 all residents of Mukono District.

Mr Kangave added that postmortems were done at Luweero Health Centre IV and bodies were taken by their relatives for burial in Mukono.
“The police traffic department has tentatively blamed the fatal accidents on reckless driving. The driver of the box body truck escaped from the accident scene and is still on the run. We have got information that all the six occupants of the salon car are residents of Mukono District, “ ASP Kangave told the Daily Monitor on Monday.
