According to the Judiciary press statement dated March 3, the fake Facebook accounts created go by different fake identities with the photographs of the Chief Justice.

The Judiciary suspects Justice Katureebe’s photos were randomly downloaded from the worldwide web/internet.

“The attention of the Judiciary management has been drawn to the existence of fake Facebook accounts being operated in the name of the Hon. the Chief Justice of Uganda, Bart Katureebe,” part of the press statement reads.

Adding: “The persuasive Facebook accounts have all sorts of misleading information targeting unsuspecting members of the general public who have been patronising the pages.”

Further, the Judiciary categorically states that the Chief Justice does not own any Facebook account and hence he disassociates himself from the fake Facebook accounts opened in his names.

“The Judiciary wishes to inform the general public that Hon. the Chief Justice Bart Katureebe has never been a member of Facebook and does not intend to open up an account on this social media platform,” the Judiciary in its statement assures the public.

“We therefore disassociate the Hon. the Chief Justice from the said accounts and call on the general public not to patronise the pages because the fraudsters are using them to mislead members of the public with false information, both about the Judiciary and the country at large.”
