Nakasongola- Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II has rallied his subjects in Buruli County for a better working relationship between Central Government and Buganda Kingdom administration at Mengo.

Kabaka Mutebi made the call on Friday during his first tour of Buruli County in six years.

In 2009, the government blocked him from visiting Buruli following a misunderstanding between the Buruli Chiefdom and the Mengo establishment.

“We should work as a team to develop this area. We must also promote the current good working relationship between Central Government and Buganda. All the people and institutions helping us to live a better life must also be commended,” Kabaka Mutebi told the people at Wabinyonyi playground in Nakasongola Town Council.
He was accompanied by the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayega. The Kabaka took part in the immunisation of children at Kalongo Sub-county, where a two-day health camp offered free treatment and counselling services to the residents. He commended the health team under Buganda Health Volunteers Association for the two health camps in Kalungi and Kalongo sub-counties.

Buganda Kingdom minister for health Ben Kiwanuka Mukwaya said the health teams received an assortment of drugs from Uganda Pharmaceuticals and the National Drug Authority to facilitate the treatment of the residents. He said development can only happen when residents have clean drinking water, food for their families and good healthcare.

“We have a report that our people here need clean water and better health facilities. We have also advised them to grow and eat the traditional foods which have the required nutrients. This is the basic reason we are encouraging fruit growing, including vegetables,” Mr Mukwaya said.

The Kabaka’s two-day tour concluded with the commissioning of the Masaza Football Tournament at Migeera Sports Ground yesterday.
