The ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs has appointed Lt Gen Joram Mugume as chairperson for the Board of Directors of the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC).
NEC is the business arm of the army and since its incorporation in 1989, it has operated without a substantive board.
Gen Mugume, will serve with 12 others inlcuding the Corporation's Managing Director, Maj Gen James Mugira as well as the Commander of Land Forces, Maj Gen Peter Elwelu.
Gen Mugume, until his recent appointment, has been serving as a presidential adviser on Defence, and as the chairperson of the military land board.
While inaugurating the Board at NEC Headquarters in Bugolobi Industrial area on Tuesday, the Minister of State for Defence, Col (rtd) Charles Okello Engola, asked the members to work together towards meeting a common objective.
Maj Gen Mugira, in his remarks, thanked the ministry for the choice of members.
"I am happy I have a strong team, a team of stakeholders to run this corporation," he said.
