KAMPALA. A 94-year-old man has been arrested by police in Nakaseke District on suspicion that he killed a female domestic helper whom he had failed to rape.

The arrest of the elderly aged man, whose identity we cannot reveal due to legal challenges, followed an investigation of the murder of Roy Kulode, 40, on January 20, 2018 at Kalagala village, Kyamutakasa Parish in Nakaseke Sub County, Nakaseke District.
Savannah Police spokesman, Mr Paul Kangave, said the suspect first reported a case of aggravated robbery at his home in which the deceased was killed.

“He said robbers had attacked them and cut the deceased. But our investigations show that the suspect first asked the deceased to have sex with him but when she rejected, he turned physical. He then cut the deceased using a machete in the face until she was unconscious,” Mr Kangave said.
In the morning of the fateful day, the suspect informed police that found Kulode alive but too weak to talk. She was taken to Nakaseke Hospital where she died later.

Mr Kangave said scene of crime officers examined the house and found gaps in the narration of the suspect.
“He said the robbers attacked him first and then turned to the deceased. But his clothes have blood of the deceased yet he said he didn’t have contact with her. These gaps have been stitched by the investigators to conclude that he participated in killing,” he said.
The old man had recorded a charge and caution statement with detectives.
