Man arrested for defiling four months old step daughter

Police in Namutumba are holding a 28-year-old man over allegations that he defiled his four months-old stepdaughter.
The accused, a farmer and resident of Nabitula village, Ivukula sub-county in Namutumba District reportedly defiled the victim when her mother Naomi Namiyangu had gone to attend to her garden near their home.

According to the Nabitula village chairperson, Mr Samson Nabongho, the accused was arrested after the mother of the victim reported him to authorities.
When Ms Namiyangu returned from the garden, her daughter was reportedly crying. She tried to breastfeed the baby in an attempt to silence her but in vain.
On checking the baby, she discovered that she was bleeding from her private parts.
The accused had earlier been left with the baby as the mother went to the garden.
The suspect was rescued by police from an angry mob that wanted to lynch him.
