Man killed, body dumped near police post

KYOTERA- Police are investigating circumstances under which a man was killed and his body dumped near Kasasa Police Post in Kakuuto Sub- county, Kyotera District.

The officers at the station found the body near their place of work at about 5am on Wednesday morning.

The Southern Region Police Spokesperson, Mr Lameck Kigozi told Daily Monitor that preliminary investigations indicate that the man could have been a robber who was “arrested and killed by a mob of drunkards.”

“We have so far arrested six people to help us investigate but according to the information we have, the deceased together with two others who are on the run, tried to break into an old man’s house but were attacked by a group of drunkards who arrested and beat him seriously before abandoning him at the police post after realising that he had died,” Mr Kigozi said.

According to Mr Micheal Kasaga, a resident of Kasasa Village, he heard a scuffle near his home at night but feared to get out of the house to find out what was happening.

The incident comes barely 24 hours after panga-wielding attackers invaded two villages of Kabonera A and Kabonera B, in Kabonera Sub -county in the nearby Masaka District and killed two people.

The two incidents have revived fear among greater Masaka residents who early this year were terrorised by panga-wielding gangsters who killed and injured several people.

However, Mr Kigozi says the latest incidents are isolated crimes not related to the earlier wave of criminality.
