Ex-Masaka mayor John Tebyasa dies at 83 on New Year’s Eve

MASAKA. Democratic Party stalwart and former Masaka Municipality Mayor and Eng. John Tebyasa Matovu has died.
Tebyasa, 83, died on the New Year’s Eve.
Tebyasa's eldest son, Dr Joseph Wasswa, who is also lecturer at Makerere University told this reporter that his father died at about 9am after suffering from chest infection related illness.
Dr Wasswa noted that his father has been staying at his home in Lungujja, a Kampala suburb and has been in good shape of recent.

“He had a chest infection, but doctors said it was not serious. On Saturday he took his dinner and went to bed, but early in the morning at about 9am, death unexpectedly robbed him from us,” Dr Wasswa said on telephone.
His death left a number of Masaka town dwellers and DP members in Masaka grieving.
Mr Fred Mukasa Mbidde, the DP Vice President also doubling as the party chairperson in Masaka described the deceased as an exemplary leader and social democrat.
