Moroto hospital chocking on alcohol casualties

Moroto. Moroto Regional Referral Hospital is overwhelmed by alcohol casualties and pneumonia cases, senior officials have revealed.
Ms Ann Grace Aluwo, the officer-in-charge of the casualty ward, said she registers 15-25 casualty cases everyday resulting from bar fights.
“When I get 15 casualty cases, you find 10 have been caused by alcohol. People here [Moroto] fight a lot whenever they get drunk. They hurt their heads with bottles and other sharp objects,” Ms Aluwo told journalists who visited the hospital recently.
She said other cases related to alcohol include accidents due to people getting knocked while staggering on the roads or driving under the influence of alcohol.
“Some people fall in trenches and sustain serious injuries because of alcohol. Alcohol is a big problem in this area,” she added.
