Museveni summons Ruhaama NRM leaders to Rwakitura

  • Ruhaama County was forced into a by-election after the seat fell vacant on November 4th following the death of Beijukye William Zinkuratiire. Beijukye, who had represented the constituency for just over a year, succumbed to Hepatitis B.
  • Mr Mulindwa in a statement says; “During the meeting, Mr Museveni is expected to harmonise positions of the NRM leaning independent candidates contesting in the race against Moses Kahima Mugabe the official flag bearer of NRM.”

President Museveni who is the NRM party chairperson has today summoned the party leaders in Ruhaama constituency for an urgent meeting at his country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhura District.

According to the statement released by the NRM Communications Officer, Rogers Mulindwa, close to 100 members are expected to attend the meeting.

These include the party District Executive Committee members, MPs, area district councilors, LCIII Chairpersons and all contestants in the party primaries among others.

The meeting is also expected to be attended by Ntungamo District NRM Chairperson and First Lady, Janet Kataha Museveni.

Mr Mulindwa in a statement says; “During the meeting, Mr Museveni is expected to harmonise positions of the NRM leaning independent candidates contesting in the race against Moses Kahima Mugabe the official flag bearer of NRM.”

Eight candidates were contesting for the NRM flag in the by-election.

The Electoral Commission set January 11, 2018 as the date for holding fresh elections in the area.
