NTUNGAMO. The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Stanley Ntagali has decried increasing religious pretence in the country.
He says while there are so many people claiming to be born again, it is not reflected in their actions and there is a lot of sinfulness.
“Now everyone calls himself a born again, but their actions tell a different story. The Bible tells us not to judge but the real born again is a believer who accepts the Lord and performs according to his commandments. Some are stepping on two roads; one of the church and the other of the worldly things. You find them in church, and out of church. It’s completely different,” Archbishop Ntagali said while preaching at Bwongyera Archdeaconry in Ntungamo district on Wednesday.

He said with parents failing to take responsibility of catering for their children even when they have money, uncles and fathers defiling their own daughters, increasing homosexuality and love for money, the world risks a setback if no real born agains come up.
“I am appealing to all leaders including religious leaders that we protect our country and lead it to peacefulness that if we are to leave, we leave in peace and leave it prosperous,” he said.

Preaching earlier at Kibatsi Archdeaconry the archbishop said the church of Uganda has reached a landmark in fighting homosexuality including a walk out at Canterbury meeting arguing that the church must not be shaken with money if they have to win the battle against sinfulness.
Archbishop Ntagali is in South Ankole diocese on a pastoral visit that started on Monday and shall end on Sunday with the commissioning of the diocesan mission hospital at Kyamate. President Yoweri Museveni is expected to preside over the Sunday function.
