Stop dividing Christians, says Archbishop Odama

Luweero.

The Archibishop of Gulu, John-Baptist Odama, has cautioned Christians against causing divisions in the Church, saying they are contradicting Christian principles.

“Any religion which tries to promote divisions within the congregation should be avoided. Such religion is political and not Christian,” the Archbishop said.

He added: “Particular groups and individuals propagating acts of disrespect for the Church leadership and doctrines should be avoided.

Speaking at the Emmaus Centre Silver Jubilee celebrations at Katikamu Parish last Sunday, the Archbishop said individual priests have initiated their own but perplexing mode of worship. He urged the Christians to shun them.

Archbishop Odama said the Catholic Church only recognises Charismatic renewal ministry which is the very reason why the Emmaus Centre under the direct supervision of the Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese was founded but the church doesn’t tolerate divisions.

His message comes after the Church in July suspended the Rev Father Jacinto Kibuuka as the Archbishop of Kampala Diocese, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga and warned the Catholics against following his ministry.
