On Wednesday morning, residents of Bulinde village in Katikamu Sub County were shocked to find the body of the missing child who was suspected to have been kidnapped from a garden where she had been sent by her parents to collect fire wood on Tuesday afternoon.

“We are investigating the circumstances under which the young girl went missing from her parents’ home and her murder by yet to be identified people. It is possible that she could have been strangled by the assailants. We await the final postmortem report to verify the cause of death,” Savana region Police Spokesperson Paul Kangave told the Daily Monitor on Wednesday.

According to Mr Constantine Mutumba - the father of the deceased- his daughter who has been a Primary four at Blessed Future Primary School did not go to school on Tuesday after telling her mother that she was sick.

She was sent to the garden by her mother to collect some firewood but she never returned home. All attempts to try and locate her proved futile by Tuesday evening.
“We were all shocked to receive the news (of her death) from some of the residents who had mounted a second search,” Mr Mutumba told the Daily Monitor.

Bulinde village Local Council I Chairperson Mr Samuel Kibuuka said he had learnt from the parents of the deceased on Tuesday evening that their daughter had gone missing.
“She had been sent to collect some firewood from the garden. The parents took long to realize that their daughter had probably been kidnapped,” Kibuuka said.
