Three brothers arrested over father’s death

NAMISINDWA- Police in Namisindwa District have arrested three people who on Wednesday allegedly killed their father following a disagreement over family land.

The deceased is a brother of Manafwa District chairman, Mr John Musila.

The Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, Mr Suwedi Mansur confirmed the arrests.

He said the Peter Musila, the deceased, was a peasant farmer based in Bukisasi Village, Bumwoni Sub-county, Namisindwa District.

According to police, the body was recovered by residents in a stream in Nambewo village,Bumwoni Sub County.

“We are investigating the death to ensure that the law takes its course,” Mr Suwedi Mansur said .

Police identified the suspects as Derrick Wamukosa, 24; Herbert Wamukosa, 27 and Jack Zakayo, 28.

“Our preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased refused to give them land,” he said.

Ms Jenifer Namboi, the wife of the deceased told Daily Monitor that she was shocked when she was informed that her husband had been killed.

 “I was with him on the fateful day and we had lunch together. He left for Magale trading centre to drink alcohol only to hear that he was killed by unknown people who dumped his body in a stream,” Ms Namboi said.

Ms Lydia Mukite, the daughter of the deceased suspects that her brothers did not kill their father.

 “He was stabbed several times on the chest, stomach and head. Police must investigate this matter thoroughly because I he had a good relationship with my brothers,” she said.

Ms Mukite said the deceased had three wives and 37 children.
