Two bodies of Entebbe fishermen retrieved

ENTEBBE-Police in Entebbe have retrieved two bodies of fishermen who drowned in Lake Victoria while fishing.

Mutege Ekisaferi, 28, a resident of Kajjansi was found dead at Kitubulu Landing Site in Katabi town Council near Entebbe town.
He met his fate three days after joining the business.

His relatives said he left home on Monday after telling them that he was looking for a job.

Police later retrieved the body of Morris Musisi Sserumaga, a fisher man at Lwanjaba Landing Site in Katabi Town Council who also drowned while fishing.

According to Mr Bashir Mutabuza, a fisherman at Lwanjaba Landing Site, Sserumaga drowned at about 5 am on Thursday.

“We got the sad news that one of our friend’s boat has capsized. We rushed to the scene and found his canoe floating. After a search, we landed on his body,’’ Mr Mutabuza said.

He said the deceased had just joined them from Kigungu Landing Site.

Mr Samson Mission, the Entebbe Police Commander said his team has started investigations into both incidents.

Entebbe Police Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Officer, Mr Richard Anvuko said fishermen should avoid using small canoes while fishing because they cannot withstand strong winds.
