Two arrested with fake money in guest house

BUKEDEA- Police at Bukedea Central Police Station are holding two people who were found with counterfeit currency notes of Uganda, Kenya and US dollars.

The suspects were allegedly found with various equipment and an assortment of paper they were using to print the fake notes.

Bukedea District Police Commander, Mr Emmy Lorika, identified the suspects as Ben Orikod of Butebu Sub- county in Pallisa District and Patrick Chepskor, a resident of Kwen Sub-county in Kapchorwa District.

He said the two were on Friday arrested at Amazon Guest House in Bukedea town.
He said they recovered fake Ugandan currency notes totalling to Shs5million, Shs50,000 Kenyan money and some fake US dollars.

Mr Lorika said the two men would be charged with forgery, adding that their case file has been forwarded to the office of the Resident State Attorney for legal advice.

“The circumstances leading to the arrest of these two men happened after several scenarios in which several people have been conned of their money by these fraudsters who give them fake money,” he said.

He said they managed to recover, samples of various liquids, paper, and a few gadgets that the suspects have allegedly been using to make fake money inside the guest house.
Mr Charles Opejo, a cattle businessman in Bukedea said most of the victims are local traders dealing in grains and livestock.
