West Nile. The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has identified 10 wooden bridges that are in a sorry state to be replaced with concrete decker.
Speaking during the inspection of the roads and bridges last Friday, the executive director of UNRA, Ms Allen Kagina, said most of the wooden bridges have become dangerous to passengers.
“We have in plan to replace 10 wooden bridges across the sub-region, work on the roads and also get some ferry for the case of Rhino Camp linking the sub-region to Amuru District,” she said.

The wooden bridges that were mainly constructed during the colonial times are narrow and pose danger to passengers.
“Once we work on the roads, also we shall reduce the time and costs of transport for people. But we need to ensure that there is quality work on the roads so that we get value for money,” Ms Kagina said.
She was not happy with the slow pace of the rehabilitation of the 54-kilometre road stretch from Nebbi to Pakwach, saying the contract may be terminated.
