Ugandan wins prestigious US award

Kampala.
Dr Denis Akankunda Bwesigye (Pictured) has been recognised with the 2014 Lavender Award at the State University of New York, at Albany during the May 17 commencement ceremony.

Dr Bwesigye received the award during his graduation ceremony held at SUNY Albany, New York, where he was conferred a Doctorate of Public Health (DrPH) in Health Policy Management.

He has also recently been appointed deputy director within the Department of Population and Family Health - Columbia University.
Dr Bwesigye is a regular contributor of news articles that span topics about health policy, economics, and politics, which are published through various media houses in the East African region.

The university has produced some of Uganda’s finest public health leaders like Dr Jotham Musinguzi, who upon returning, spearheaded the creation of the Population Secretariat.
