NTUNGAMO. Voters in Ruhaama Constituency in Ntungamo District are today voting for the area MP.

Mr Jackson Mubangizi Kabikire, Dr Peninah Beinomugisha Jumbo and Ms Vastine Orishaba, all independent candidates, and Mr Moses Kahima, who is the NRM flag bearer, are competing for the seat which fell vacant following the death of William Beijukye Zinkurateire on November 4, 2017.

Mr Kahima has promised to “implement the NRM manifesto and follow up all the government promises to the constituency.”

President Museveni on Tuesday rallied the voters to vote for Mr Kahima, saying an independent candidate will not be able to sit on the NRM table where allocation of resources is done, adding that they will lose out on development if they abandon the party candidate.

Dr Beinomugisha has promised to push for functional schools and health facilities, motorable roads, eliminate jiggers afflicting some communities and help children from poor families advance in education.

Mr Kabikire, on the other hand, has promised regular consultations with the voters and make sure that their voice and views are heard at all platforms where matters affecting them are discussed. He claims he should have been the NRM party flag bearer if the election was free and fair.
