KAMPALA. Police in Mukono District have arrested a woman suspected to have killed her husband in cold blood.
Jackie Nakku allegedly killed her husband, Mark Ssenyonjo, in the wee hours of Wednesday morning following a domestic dispute.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire, said Ms Nakku is detained at Mukono Police Station on accusations of stabbing her children's father.
"We have her in our cells because all signs indicate she killed her husband but wanted to hoodwink the public that he had been killed by attackers," Mr Owoyesigyire said.

Police explained that Nakku made an alarm at 2am alerting neighbours of her husband’s murder by unknown assailants. The locals alerted police that came to pursue the alleged attackers and also conduct investigations into the heinous crime.

"Our team of Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. They embarked on investigation but to their surprise, there was no sign of forced entry," Mr Owoyesigyire said.
Police changed focus and started interrogating family members including Nakku, their children and house maid. The woman insisted that her husband had been killed by thugs who broke into the house a few minutes after he had returned from watching soccer.

"We then interrogated the maid who is an adult and children but they all said they had not heard any one break into the house apart from the beating which was inside the house," he said.
Police sounded out residents who arrived at the scene earlier and all said they did not see anything used to break into the house. It was revealed that the couple had a long domestic battle and their issues were once handled by religious and local leaders.

"We picked an iron bar which we suspect was used to hit him severally on the head and a knife that was stabbed multiple times in his chest. We arrested the woman and took the body to Mulago hospital for postmortem," Mr Owoyesigyire said. Last month, another woman in Matuga reportedly served her husband food laced with poison killing him. Postmortem confirmed he was killed by poison and the woman is now battling murder charges.
