Is Kampala carnival really necessary?

Whatever took place on Kampala streets on October 4 was wastage of taxpayers money. Spending more than Shs800 million merrymaking in a city with barely functional street lights, numerous potholes, slums, poor medical facilities and worse of all, with our brothers and sisters in Karamoja starving to death, leaves a lot to be desired.
God have mercy on our country. There was nothing to celebrate. Such festivals are for countries such as Brazil and UAE to hold, not third world Uganda.
