KAMPALA- In taking a 2-0 series lead, UCU Lady Canons seemed to poke KCCA Leopards where it hurt most going by the subsequent two games of the duo’s Pepsi National Basketball League finals playoffs.

This is after the latter leveled the best-of-seven series to swing the momentum going into today’s deferred game five.

“The girls realized how embarrassing it would be for the club to be swept. Most importantly however is we need to continue sharing the ball more and out-rebounded our opponents,” KCCA coach Timothy Odeke said ahead of today’s game.

Maureen Amoding seems to have played herself into the coach’s plans having struggled for form and fitness in the past year.

She reminded her former teammates of her enduring quality as KCCA Leopards claimed a 71-63 game four victory at YMCA on Wednesday.

The guard who had contributed eight and 17 points in the previous games after missing game one popped up with a game high 15 points on 6 for 12 shooting. Odeke is also counting on Martha Soigi who added 13 points and nine rebounds and is averaging 15 points in the series.

The Lady Canons can meanwhile count on the front court pairing of reigning finals MVP Vilma Achieng who showed glimpses of her old form contributing 12 points and 14 rebounds in game three.

Her partner Sarah Ageno added 12 boards and 11 points to complement Judith Nansobya and Ritah Imanishimwe who have been carrying the team thus far.
The Canons will hope to edge ahead in the series having previously restricted their opponents to two games on their way to the 2015 and 2013 triumphs.
