Egypt’s Al Ahly upbeat ahead of historic clash with KCCA

The wait is over and the much anticipated Caf Champions League confrontation between eight-time African kings Al Ahly and Ugandan representatives KCCA is upon us.
This, tomorrow at Namboole, is as big as it gets for KCCA in their debut group stage engagement.
KCCA manager Mike Mutebi has always said it is moments like these that football people and players live for.
“To be the best,” the KCCA manager said ahead of the highly-billed encounter, “You have to rub shoulders with the continent’s best, and it can’t get bigger than Ahly, Africa’s best team.” The welcome has already been cordial; KCCA tweeting Ahly “...welcome to the Pearl of Africa” once the African Team of the Century touched down at Entebbe Airport on Saturday.
Ahly reciprocated the warmth, revealing how “glad” they were “to be with our new friends in Africa.”
Once they settled in at Sheraton Hotel, they reminded us all of tomorrow’s event at Namboole, where both KCCA, 1-0 losers to Botswana’s Township Rollers, and Ahly - who drew their opener goalless with Esperance, will be looking for their first win.
“Hello @KCCAFC , are you ready for the historic match on Tuesday?,” Ahly tweeted.
Historic in the sense that the two have not met before; that Africa’s most successful team is in town, and that KCCA are hosting their first ever Champions League group match. Ahly coach Hossam El Badry travelled with 18 players after the team’s 1-0 victory over Ajax Amsterdam in UAE.
